Dreams

Have you ever woken up in the wee hours of the morning going what in the world was that dream all about? Well that was me at 4:30 am this morning. I felt like I was taken on the most incredibly convoluted ride ever. My friend Jacqueline and I are "dream interpreting" buddies. I was so close to calling her at 4:35 am but decided I would let her sleep being the super thoughtful friend that I am.

It got me thinking about how many of you out there are having wild dreams without any way of interpreting them. This blog is going to be more of an informational guide to interpreting dreams. It will not be complete by any stretch of the imagination but it should get you going.

Dreams are a great way for our Spirit Guides to communicate to us and offer us guidance. A dream may be a premonition, an answer to your question/problem or a reflection of what your subconscious is really up to. I've told many a client if you'd like to know the answer to a question then meditate on it 5 minutes before going to bed and within a few days the answer will be revealed to you.

We have a dream about every 90 minutes so depending on how long we sleep for we could have up to 7 dreams a night. The dream we have in the early hours of the morning (5 am) is usually the longest and most significant. I find though that if you are meant to remember a dream you will wake up regardless of what time it is. We tend to forget the majority of our dream about 10 minutes after waking up so having a dream journal next to your bed and recording it right away may be a great idea. Having a journal may reveal to you a trend in your dreams which may be helpful as well.

A great introductory book to dreams is "The Mystical Magical Marvelous World of Dreams" by Wilda B. Tanner. I found it very helpful and insightful when I first started tapping into this realm. I would also highly suggest you get a book called "Animal Spirit Guides" by Dr. Steven Farmer. Many times we dream about animals and having a book interpreting their message for you seems to help out a lot. Also, I would highly recommend a book on numbers. I use "Simply Numerology" by Anne Christie as well as "Angel Numbers" by Doreen Virtue. We sometimes see numbers in our dreams so a book helping with that is also helpful.

Dreams may have so many components to them that breaking them down into pieces is a great idea. So if you see yourself being guided by a lion and then see the number 1845 then a way to interpret this dream is to look up what lion means in your animal book and then what the number 1845 represents in your numerology book.

What I found interesting was the thought that every person, thing or animal we see in our dreams is a representation of some aspect of ourselves. So if you see bird and you interpret that as freedom then that may represent your side that cannot be contained. This is a key point in interpreting dreams; it’s how you feel about it. A friend of mine dreamt of caring for a cat instead of a dog. For her cat meant being more selfish because they are more self-sufficient. For me, a cat is sneaky and aloof where dog represents loyalty, unconditional love and best buddies. Think about how you feel about what you’re seeing in your dream as well as your feelings during the dream.

There are some common themes in dreams that most dream interpreters agree on and I'll include those in the following paragraphs:

Finding ourselves in the dark in dreams is an important clue which suggests we don’t have enough information. We may see a train coming off the track when we ourselves are “off course” or “off track”. I used to have a recurring dream where I was driving up a mountain an all of a sudden the mountain turned into a cliff where I was driving upside down on the cliff and was going to fall at any moment. I dreamt this on and off for years and it finally stopped when I quit my job as an Engineer and started doing all of my psychic work. I think the meaning of that dream for me was that if I kept doing something I didn’t enjoy it was going to be like falling off a cliff and possibly dying. The dying would be an emotional death and not necessarily a physical death.

A dream of getting into an accident may mean that you’re driving yourself too hard and you’re not taking the time to contemplate and address issues. It could also be telling you that if you don’t slow down then you will end up in a wreck. Dreams of death could represent a rebirth for you or the death of a phase in your life; the ending of something. Dreams of being chased are a reflection of the dreamer’s feelings of insecurity. The dreamer is running away from something.

The scenery or feeling of a dream is important to look at as well. If you see an ocean with big, crashing waves then that may represent a turbulent time in your life or emotions. Water is a representation of emotion so seeing clear, beautiful water is very different then seeing murky, dark water. If your dreams are fragmented and inconsistent then that may indicate that your emotions are all over the place and you may need to regroup and start fresh. Seeing yourself sedentary in a dream may mean that you are not motivated. Seeing an animal not acting in a characteristic manner is important to look at as well. For example, seeing a squirrel not moving may mean that you are sedentary as well.

In our dreams a building or parts of it could represent us. Some interpretations say that buildings represent the dreamer's body or the thoughts we feel about something. Seeing a basement may represent your deepest thoughts whereas dreaming of an attic represents your higher self. Seeing a factory may represent your thoughts about work, a church may be your religious views and a cottage could be your feelings about family life.

The condition of a building or room is important to look at as well. If the building is new and pristine it may mean that you’re on the right track with something or that your thoughts about it are too sterile. A building that is old and run-down may mean you need an overhaul to your thoughts or that you are tired and worn out from thinking about something. I once dreamt that I was in the basement of the house we’re currently living in but I kept finding hidden rooms that were massive and really nice looking. I took that to mean new ways of thinking were coming my way or that I needed to be more open-minded to ideas.

I know this was a lot of information to look at but it certainly was not entirely comprehensive. I wanted to give you something to get you going and thinking about your dreams and what they may be trying to tell you. They are a fabulous source of information available to you every day and best of all they are free!

When did it all change?

Do you remember when you came home from school one day and you told your mom "nobody likes me!" and she replied "everyone loves you!" Or when you told her "I can't do this!" and she said "of course you can; you can do anything you put your mind too!" I’m sure some of you totally relate to these questions.

My oldest son is 6 years old and he is extremely anxious about being late to school. Our mornings are spent trying to prevent the anxiety attack from coming. This morning on our way to school he starts freaking out declaring that we’re going to be late so I of course started explaining the concepts of quantum physics to him. I told him we just needed to warp time to get there when we wanted to. I continued to say to him that life is about faith; it's about believing that you can accomplish what you want and you will. I got our youngest son involved too and we all started saying the phrase "we are going to get to school on time" over and over until we moved to the phrase "we are on time" which is a declaration of the accomplishment. I explained to my son that if you truly believe that you will get there on time then the light will change to green as you're approaching it and traffic will magically move faster allowing you to reach your destination on time. Of course, my son was skeptical about the whole theory as he was chanting "I think I can" of course I corrected that to become "I know I can". I bet you're wondering if we got there on time.

I thought when does this idea of being able to accomplish anything we set our mind to start changing? Is it when we're teenagers and our mom's are giving us the same pep talk but we're too "smart" to listen to "her". Really what does she know anyway? When did we move from "the world is my oyster" to "I have to be reasonable, accept the situation I'm in AND be thankful for it"?

My brother and his wife had a beautiful baby girl a couple of months ago so we went to meet her in Arizona recently. As a side note, she is too cute and the whole family is in love with her. Her toothless smile makes you realize that joy is truly in the simplest things. My brother and I decided to work out so we go to his neighborhood facility. He was shocked to see that every machine was occupied until he realized that the date was January 2 which is when he declared nonchalantly "New Year's resolutions". I'll have you know that I went back on January 3rd to see only half the machines occupied and I'll bet today less than a quarter will be occupied.

Do we really need a calendar to get us motivated for our goals? That’s going to be tough if we have to wait for that one day a year to really put our mind to accomplishing what we want only to have that declaration fizzle before the month is done.

In his book Resurrection Neville says “the essence of prayer is faith; but faith must be permeated with understanding to be given that quality which it does not possess when standing alone”. In the book Your Faith is Your Fortune he says “we can be to others only that which we are to ourselves”. I would love for you to combine that 2 thoughts and have that be your New Year’s resolution for every day of 2010.

Ask yourself “what is it that I’d like to accomplish and what needs to change for me to do so EVERY single day for the rest of my life?”

It’s January 6, 2010 and I’d like to declare that I’m going to love, adore and play with my children, love and adore my husband, nurture my business, hang out with my friends, eat sensibly, workout, find the joy in life … EVERY SINGLE DAY OF THE YEAR!

Where is heaven?

I was contemplating the idea of heaven while driving yesterday. We always think of or imagine heaven to be way up high in the sky. I thought "what if it was right here instead?" What if it wasn't way up there but rather it was right on top of me. I thought what if Earth and Heaven are superimposed and we get to "bump" into heaven every once in a while when we receive a message or catch a glimpse of something from the afterlife.

It would be comforting for me to know that it was right here and I didn't have to do much or "travel" much to reach heaven. I read a book one time explaining that when you die you actually recreate the environment from which you came to make that transition easier. Wouldn't that imply that you're not really going anywhere far?

Then I took it one step further. What if heaven and hell were our own creations? What if heaven is when you were happy and content while hell is being unhappy and miserable? What would you need to do about it then to make sure that you were living a heavenly state while alive? Do you really need to die to achieve bliss?

While in Maui, Wayne Dyer discussed the idea of a quantum moment. A quantum moment is that moment when something major happens in your life and serves to really shift your awareness. After that quantum moment you truly are never the same. This quantum moment carries an energy with it that propels you upward. He talks about there being “falls” in your life and to look for the upward propelling energy after the fall.

A woman in the Wayne Dyer seminar shared her quantum moment. She had been bulimic for 22 years and she realized in one of her states of frenzy that her thoughts were causing her chaotic state. She also recognized that her thoughts had no weight in them other than what she gave them. She realized what Louise Hay says all the time "it's just a thought and a thought can be changed at any time". Since that quantum moment this woman has become healthier than she’s ever been.

I love the idea of a thought being nothing more than what you’d like it to be. To remember that you are the creator of your life and destiny rather than a victim of circumstance is fantastic.

I was having a girl’s night in with a few of my friends last night when one of the ladies asked another “do you see the blessing in that or are you not there yet?” I love that question! Sometimes we have quantum moments that take us a while to realize their value. When we do recognize their effect on our life that shift upwards will happen and in my opinion we are one step closer to heaven.

So if heaven is right here and I can access it at any time then where are my loved ones who have passed away? I feel that they are right here all the time; their existence is superimposed on ours. If you read “Conversations with God” it’ll explain to you that time is not linear. The only thing that exists is now so every life we live is lived simultaneously.

So if our loved ones are right here going about their business and daily life can I talk to them more and receive more messages from them? I say absolutely! I remember one time my brothers were coming to town for my oldest son’s baptism. While I was cleaning the house the song “Butterfly Kisses” started playing on the radio. This is a song that always reminds me of my dad. Was it a coincidence or was he telling me that he was there ready to share in the celebrations of the next few days? I believe he was right there enjoying his family being together.

I feel that we are one step closer to Heaven as the veil between the spirit world and ours gets thinner and thinner. Heaven on Earth can be achieved so why not live it!

'Tis the season to be ...

Have you ever thought what this season invokes in you? Is it the season to be jolly? Grateful? Hopeful? Sad? Emotional? Angry?

I remember the first Christmas after my dad passed away I spent the entire night looking out the window. There wasn't a festive bone in body that evening. I don't think we even put up a Christmas tree after that for a long time. That was certainly a time of sadness and plenty of emotion.

I met my husband 12 years ago. My husband is a very positive, upbeat person. We were sitting around one day around Christmas when he decides that we were going to get a tree and decorate it together. Neither one of us owned any ornaments so we went on this adventure. We bought beautiful ornaments and coordinated the colors of deep red and gold. I had my first taste of eggnog ever which didn't go over so well. We made cookies and had hot chocolate with a scoop of ice cream in it. I was on a step stool putting up some ornaments and my husband was kneeling to plug the lights in; that was the moment I looked down and realized that this was the man I was going to spend the rest of my life with. It was a moment of knowing - there was no question in my mind. We had known each other 6 months. It truly was a magical night.

The most incredible thing about that first Christmas with my husband was it was the turning point for me. It was when I started replacing feelings of joy, gratitude and hope for those of sadness and hurt.

Prior to that, I would feel sad for all the people in the world that were not as fortunate as the rest of us. I didn’t know how to set those boundaries and not take on their story. Now, I still have that same empathy but I do something about it to my comfort level. For example, last year my friends and I adopted a family in need for the holidays. We bought the mom and her 2 kids some things off their wish list. This year, I’m sending money to a family whose house burned down and the husband lost his job over the summer. My mom would always say to me “do what you feel you can do and leave the rest to God”. I love that! Her point is have faith that all will work out. Isn’t that what life is all about? Having faith in God and believing that it will all work out for your best.

While I was in Maui, I shared my story of Isabella’s loss with the crowd of 450 people. I was telling Ram Dass that he had inspired me with his words. I was saying that part of the reason I was there was to find my center again after having had 3 miscarriages in a row the last of which was a 20 week baby girl.

When we went on break a few people came up to me to express how sorry they were for what I had been through and most offered me their stories of how they had a few miscarriages and then went on to have kids. It was only after the second or third person talked to me that I realized people assumed I didn’t have any kids. That evening I told my friend that I wished I had mentioned that I had kids so that people wouldn’t feel that bad for me. I had changed my mind about that by the next morning. It’s not my fault that some people took on my story so harshly. I had heard some pretty bad stories as well but I didn’t take them on as my own.

Life is up, down and everything in between. I can’t feel bad when it’s my turn and when it’s someone else’s turn as well. I’d never be happy. You can feel empathy for someone but not take their story on. The other night, I wrote in my gratitude journal that I was grateful for Isabella and the incredible experience she gave me. I have slowed down tremendously; I am able to enjoy and savor the moments of my life since Isabella. Life is meant to be experiences that you gain from. This is definitely an experience I gained from. I would have rather had her for sure but as my husband loves to say “it is what it is”. There’s no use fussing over what could have been rather than enjoying what is.

If this season invokes in you feeling of sadness or loss I would suggest you look at those feelings to understand why. When you look at something and take the time to understand it then you can shift those feelings. As the teachings of Abraham say “it doesn’t matter where you are right now, you can always get to where you want to be”.

Personally, I love the gift shopping, I love wrapping the gifts, I love the parties, I love the holiday movies, I love the smiles on my boys’ faces … I could go on and on! I love it all. I wish for you the same enthusiasm for this season.

What is the Universe really trying to tell you?

We get signs from the Universe all the time; we see images of things in our mind’s eye, we have dreams, we listen to songs that resonate with us, we watch movies that trigger something in us … etc. It’s truly endless when the Universe wants to get our attention.

The question is “what is the Universe really trying to tell you?”

I am reading another book by Neville called "Your Faith is your Fortune". It really is a great read although I must admit I have to read every paragraph at least 3 times to even begin to understand it and I get something different every time.

I read the following paragraph this morning:

"Man can decree a thing and it will come to pass. Man has always decreed that which has appeared in his world. He is today decreeing that which is appearing in his world and shall continue to do so as long as man is conscious of being man.

Nothing has ever appeared in man's world but what man decreed that it should. This you may deny; but try as you will you cannot disprove it for this decreeing is based upon a changeless principle. Man does not command things to appear by his words which are, more often than not, a confession of his doubts and fears. Decreeing is ever done in consciousness".

I found those last 2 lines to be fascinating; 1) That rarely are we truly manifesting that which we talk about rather our words are a confession of our fears and doubts and 2) that we always are manifesting from that subconscious level or really that level of what we truly feel whether we admit that to ourselves or not.

I've discussed this concept before that we are energy beings and the Universe responds to that vibration we are sending out on a subconscious level. I have said make sure you are aligned with that which you would like to manifest so that it does become a reality.

Today I would like to introduce another concept to you. What if the signs from the Universe are also a mirror of your subconscious thoughts? They are showing you what you really are thinking about and not what is going to happen in your future. I tell everyone who comes to me for a reading that I am doing a reading based on where their energy is today and if they don't like what they hear then it's a matter of changing their thoughts which in turn will change the outcome.

I’ll bring it home for you. When I was pregnant or thinking about having that 3rd child I got signs everywhere. My teacher used to always say to me “just because you’re getting the feeling to have a 3rd child doesn’t mean you should. What is it that you’d like to do?” I never answered that question because I didn’t feel that I had a choice of having a 3rd child or not. I felt that if I was getting messages to do it then I should. If I were to look back at the time I was scared out of my mind to have a 3rd child for many reasons. So obviously subconsciously I was sending out the vibe of “I want a 3rd child” but I wasn’t aligned with that vibe yet.

Now all I see is fit people. Is that where I’m headed? I sure hope so. My energy and focus have shifted from having a 3rd child to getting fit and healthy. I say if this child is meant to be then he or she will find their way back to our family but in the meantime I’m focused on shedding those extra pounds and feeling good about me.

The Universe is an ever evolving, dynamic entity. It is not stagnant by any stretch. The Universe does not show us "musts" rather I believe it shows us "maybes".

So when you get those signs from the Universe do you like what you see and is that what you really want? That’s really what I want you to think about after reading this post.

I’d love to hear your thoughts about this post. You may leave a comment below which I would encourage since that gets other people thinking about your thoughts as well, you may email me to mary@marysalfi.com or find me on Facebook.

How often do you meditate?

The answer should be daily. A daily meditation routine is a must for your sense of well-being and balance. There hasn't been a class or a reading that I can remember where I didn't suggest that everyone mediate daily for at least 15 minutes. The benefits of meditation are tremendous on every level; mental, emotional, physical and spiritual. Meditation will lower your blood pressure as well as allow you to feel the connection to God among many other benefits.

The point of a meditation is to go within and connect to your higher self. Questions such as "who am I?", "what do I love to do?", "who would I be if I could be anything I wanted?" and more get answered when you start meditating and going within. I'm sure you've heard the expression "if prayer is asking then meditation is listening for the answer". It is a must for everyone to be in silence for a while every day. It is a must to calm the chatter and the noise from the outside world therefore allowing you to connect to the divine being you are.

The biggest question I get is how to meditate? I would say that the key would be to find a time every day when you can commit to your practice as a start. This could be first thing in the morning or right before bed or at your lunch hour ... it really doesn't matter. I like meditating every day at the same time because then it becomes a routine.

You may start with a walking meditation which is how I started. I would go for a walk and listen to instrumental type of music. A few weeks later, I turned the music off and listened to the sounds of nature around me. A few weeks later, I took my practice inside where I was able to sit still and just be for a while. You can use any housework or monotonous activity as a meditation; washing the dishes or folding laundry can become fabulous meditations if you don't talk on the phone or combine another activity with them. Meditating in the shower is another idea. Sometimes, I imagine the water coming down as a waterfall going through all my chakras cleansing and balancing each of them to return them to their healthy state.

Some prefer doing guided meditations which can be bought on the internet or any metaphysical book store. Go with the one that resonates with you. Some prefer to meditate to chants. I love coloring mandalas as a meditation – that is actually one of my favorites. You may also light a candle and stare at the flame for a while. You may journal which allows you to put your thoughts on paper which will give you further insight to your feelings. There are endless ideas for meditating.

"Be still and know that I am God". I love that phrase! For you to know God you must be still. If you were to take that one step further you would say that God is within you and that you are God yourself. Silence, being in the moment and being still are all essentials in your life. Being present is the greatest gift you can gift to yourself. Don’t worry about the past or the future just “be” in this moment. If you are waiting somewhere use that as an opportunity to meditate rather than getting frustrated with how long you’ve been waiting.

A huge question I get from people is “how do I stop the thoughts from bombarding me?” I say thoughts are normal; it’s what we do. I suggest acknowledging the thought and the putting it in a bubble allowing it to float away. If you engage in a mental struggle with your thoughts then you’ve defeated the purpose of meditating. Acknowledge the thought and then send it on its way.

Meditating will take the anxiety out of your everyday and bring in the calm that is necessary for maintaining joy.

I'd love to hear your thoughts. You may leave a comment below, email me to mary@marysalfi.com or find me on Facebook.

With calm,

Just what I needed ...

I got a fantastic note from one of my friends today. She said that she's hooked to this blog, she's been reading it for weeks and that she's inspired by what she reads. I have to say that is exactly why I'm writing today. Sometimes things happen in your life to offer you that little push you need. I needed that little push today; that extra umph to get me on the computer again.

Don't get me wrong this is my passion; anything and everything spiritual. I love doing the readings, I love teaching the classes and I love writing this blog. I just needed to be reminded that my passion for this work was shining through these posts and someone was benefitting from it. You just never know how someone gets inspired.

The question for you is "are you where you want to be in life?" "Are you pursuing your passion and living every day with that complete umph?" When you are doing something that you love it's super easy to get back on track with it. I wrote a post called "Dharma" a few weeks ago and I'm asking the question again "what is your dharma?" "Which passion did you come to earth to fulfill?" We all have it; that burning desire within us to fulfill our dreams and make them the reality of our lives.

I read a fabulous book by Neville called “The Power of Awareness” He basically discusses the Law of Attraction in this book. He talks about figuring out what it is you desire and “assume the feeling of the wish already fulfilled”. He says to take the 5 minutes before drifting off to sleep to consciously dream about what it is you’d like to manifest. See yourself already having achieved it. We’ve all heard this idea before about the Law of Attraction. What was interesting about this book for me is that he gave examples of people who spent 2 years doing this until they achieved that which they desired. It just seems like so many of us give up on our manifestation just before it shows up.

If you are not in the ideal situation right now that doesn’t really mean much. You can still get to where you would like to be by bringing that dream into your consciousness. You need to know what it is you’d like to manifest for the Universe to work with you. Someone asked me today about my business and if I’m keeping busy. I answered that I’m always as busy as I can handle. It seems like the Universe is in total collaboration with how much I can take on. Last year, I hosted an internet talk show called “the Psychic CafĂ©”. The show aired on the 7th Wave Network for 14 weeks. The couple of months before and during the show it seemed like I barely did any readings at all. I only realized that about 3 months later which is when I smiled and thought well I couldn’t handle doing a reading right now anyway. As soon as the show was over I was booking readings like crazy again. I’ve constantly said that we are energy beings and we attract that which is a vibrational match to us at the moment. The key is to align ourselves with that which we want to attract.

My friend gave me the push today that I was asking the Universe to deliver to me. I was asking for inspiration and I got it. Now to do something about it … for starters I am going to post the entire class schedule for 2010 on my website at www.marysalfi.com/Classes.html if you’d like to take a look at what’s coming up. You do not need to be in Denver to take these classes; information on how to attend remotely is found on the website.

So what inspires you? The Universe is constantly delivering signs and messages to you. When you hear them do you do something about it?

I’d love to hear your thoughts. You may post a comment below, email me to mary@marysalfi.com, or find me on Facebook.

With inspiration!

He would've been 76 today ...

Today is my father's birthday. My father is Youssef Ajaj Khoury. People called him Joe Khoury. My dad passed away 22 years ago on August 14, 1987. It took me about 17 years to even begin accepting the fact that he had passed away. My dad was a great man. He was incredible both to his family and to anyone that was part of his life. I remember my friends saying phrases like "you're so lucky, your dad left work just to oil your roller skates." His passing left my 2 brothers, my mom and I in such shock that still to this day we have a hard time talking about the whole incident for too long.

I am at a place though where I would like to acknowledge this great man and thank him for all he's done for me. I was very intuitive growing up. As a matter of fact, a few months before my dad passed away I would hear a voice in my ear telling me it was going to happen. I remember jerking my head and saying "NO!" but I knew that I couldn’t prevent the inevitable. I was 13 at the time. My intuition continued to be strong for about 10 years after that which is when I decided to shut it off completely because it got to be so overwhelming. I managed to do just that for about 5 years but when my oldest son was born everything seemed to come flooding back. I felt spirits all around me and it really freaked me out. One of the things I felt most prominently was the presence of my dad. I just knew he was around which is when I went searching for answers. It was my dad who wouldn't let up until I found my way back to my passion and life's work.

Growing up I lived in Saudi Arabia which is where my dad worked. My mom and dad would go for daily walks with me on his shoulders; I absolutely loved that. When I got too big for that we would walk together and talk about everything. He was the type that would explain to you anything you'd like to know about. He would wake me up every morning at 6 am to find the morning star. Now whenever I happen to see the morning star I acknowledge my pop and tell him that I love him and miss him. He would spend hours with me looking up at the stars and the moon through a telescope. I learned to find the big dipper and was fascinated by the craters of the moon. He would help my mother make the salad for our meals and they were the best. My dad had a special touch that made everything just feel better. You just felt safe in the presence of my dad. He was a man of integrity and would never let anything stand in the way of what he believed in. He loved listening to the music of Peter Tchaikovsky. My music listening is not quite as refined but I love to listen to his music every so often to honor my dad.

I could go on writing about my dad for days. Today I would like to wish my dad a very Happy Birthday. If he was on this Earth plane I would bake a fabulous cake, make a huge meal and drink to his health and happiness. He is not on this earthly plane but I do feel that he is with us all the time. So I will wish for him whatever makes him happy in heaven; maybe that’s hanging out with his buddies or going for a long walk or whatever else. I miss my dad more than words can describe. I wish he was here giving me his big bear hugs. I wish he were here so that I could tell him in person how much I love him and value him. I always say to people that the only thing that happens when people die is that they change form but that they are still with us. I know he hears and appreciates this birthday wish.

Happy Birthday Dad! I love you and will miss you always!

Your daughter,

Law of Attraction

I just finished reading a book called "The Power of Awareness" by Neville. I must've read the entire book in one day. What a fantastic book! Neville talks about the Law of Attraction in this book although he terms it something else.

Neville discusses the idea of manifesting into your life all that you want "by assuming the feeling of the wish already fulfilled". In other words, when you want something then you act as if it's already in your experience. The Universe without fail responds to your thoughts. This concept is explained perfectly by the following quote from the book "The Vortex" by Jerry and Esther Hicks:

"You live in a Universe that is based upon the Law of Attraction. That means that this is an inclusion-based Universe, not an exclusion-based Universe. In other words, in an inclusion-based, attraction-based Universe, there is simply no such thing as "no". When you look at something wanted and you say "yes" to it, you are including it in your Vibration; and it becomes part of your Vibrational offering, which means it is a part of your point of attraction, which means - it begins to come to you. But when you shout "no" at something, you are including it in your Vibration, also, so it then becomes part of your Vibrational offering, which means it is a part of your point of attraction, which means - it begins to come to you."

Think about that for a moment. Even if you are saying “no” to something you are essentially inviting it into your experience. Isn’t that wild? I’ve heard it said before that the Universe doesn’t understand the word no. If you’re thinking about it in any which way it’s coming to you!

Our thoughts are truly the basis of everything. It is on that subconscious level of thinking that we manifest everything into our life. Outwardly, you may be saying something however what appears in your life is what you truly feel. This constantly brings me back to understanding who you are and what you're about. Once you realize how you would like your life to look like then you can begin to visualize it that way until it becomes a reality. Neville talks about imagining what you'd like to have every night before going to sleep and eventually you will manifest your desires.

If what you’d like to manifest is a house then before going to be every night feel as if you already own the house, see the colors on the wall, visualize the furniture you’ve decorated it with … etc. The key is to keep doing this until your wish has been fulfilled. So many of us will give up on our dreams because we feel it’s been too long and if it was going to work then it would have. Neville gives examples of people doing this exercise for 2 years to then have their dreams manifested.

The teachings of Abraham channeled through Esther Hicks will suggest that we focus on joy. They suggest that we constantly reach for a better feeling of where we’re at. I feel that’s a fantastic way to look at the Law of Attraction. So if I say that I’d like to manifest happiness into my existence that means if a house makes me happy then it will come into my experience with the opposite being true.

So what are you looking to attract into your life?

Dharma

My niece Elssa was born in the wee hours of Halloween morning. She has brought a lot of love and joy with her. It's amazing how much you can love someone without even meeting them yet. She certainly has the love of her aunt and will for all of time.

Elssa's name means God's promise or God is my oath. Since she's been born I've thought about her promise or her dharma. Dharma is our divine mission; it's the reason we are on Earth. I thought about what may be the dharma of my boys Louie and Zack. Any time I talk to someone about their life purpose, I ask them to think back to when they were 8 years old and tell me what they loved to do. I ask them to think back to the time when life wasn't in the way of their happiness.

Ever since I can remember I've always wanted to be a counselor. I thought I would be great at it since I loved listening to people and helping them figure out a solution to their issue. The problem became that I didn't know how to set the boundaries between what was someone else's problem and mine. I got to the point that I was so overwhelmed with sadness that I decided to turn away from my dharma and go in the exact opposite direction which is when I went to engineering school and graduated with honors as an Electrical Engineer. Not once during the entire time I was in school was I passionate about what I was doing. Eventually I found my way back into doing what I love doing and that is listening to people and offering them guidance to a better life.

My heart's desire would be to not get in the way of my children's dharma. If my son wants to be a football player then I'd like to cheer him on no matter how much I'm afraid of him getting injured. My husband and I always think that our youngest is going to do something wild with his life. He's the no fear and get out of my way type. I am going to make an effort to allow him to fulfill his passion as well.

Back to Elssa which is where all this thought process began. What is her dharma I wonder? I feel that our passion begins showing up when we're really young. The toys we play with and the books we gravitate towards. I have a cousin who would take apart anything that was put in his hands and he eventually became an engineer which suits him perfectly.

If you have kids, look for what they like to play with and what stories they love to listen to. I hope that this post has intrigued you enough to wonder about your own dharma. One thing is guaranteed, if you're not fulfilling your life purpose then you will constantly feel nagged and maybe even unhappy to some extent. So start asking yourself those questions of "who am I?", "what do I love to do?", "what makes me happy?", "if I could do or be anything I want to what would I choose?" ... etc. It is your obligation to yourself to be happy and guaranteed you are happiest when fulfilling your dharma!

I wish for Elssa, my boys, my other nieces and nephews a life of ultimate joy. I wish for them the wisdom to recognize what their dharma is and to fulfill it to its utmost. We all came into the world to shine and shine we do when doing what we love.

I'd love to hear from you. Email me to mary@marysalfi.com, find me on Facebook or leave a comment below.

With passion,
